In pipelines where pressure and temperature are constantly changing (thermal cycling), standard gaskets lose their flexibility and start to leak. Spiral Wound Steel Gaskets are designed to work like a “spring” to tolerate these harsh conditions.
They are manufactured by intertwining strips of Stainless Steel (SS304/SS316) bent in V form with soft Filler Material (Pure Graphite or Teflon). This structure allows the gasket to stretch when the flange is tightened and to take its old form again (recovery) in pressure changes.

Outer Ring (Centering Ring): Centres the gasket in the flange and prevents excessive compression (blow-out).
